Reckoner Design’s and Architecture Reckoner is a client server based product with Windows95 as its front end. The back end can be either SQL Server (Microsoft Back Office) or an IBM DB2 (on AS/400). This Client-Server architecture give you power to handle Reckoner users from one central point as well as from any node. At the same time flexibility has been provided to Users to customise according to their own working style. Reckoner maintains the interface design typically used in Windows95 to provide maximum ease of use.

Which means that you will get a feel of creating, processing and authorising documents, almost the way you are doing it manually today. The entire idea behind this design is to capture the real feel of an office process, without your staff having to re-learn an entirely new way of functioning.

Powerful Windows Features The user interface of Reckoner is completely Windows95 based. Surfing through Reckoner is a child’s play for anyone who is acquainted with Windows95. And its powerful GUI makes it very use- friendly even for those who are not used to the windows environment. The package makes extensive use of controls like Tabs, Windows, Tree views, Command Buttons and Menus. And all the interfaces are well provided with micro helps and power tips.

Security and Authorisation When the Reckoner system is in place, it integrates and binds all the departments of an organisation. At the same time, it ensures that the people at all departments and at all levels in the organisation access only the information they need and are authorised to access.

Hierarchy and User Access Reckoner installs a system, which organises your company structure in terms of hierarchy and designations. It provides definitions for four levels of hierarchy:

  Top level management

  Middle level

  Supervisory staff

  Operating staff

Each department has its own hierarchy levels varying from Middle level to Operating staff. The people at these levels are further defined into specific designations. The user-specific access are linked to these designations, with a provision for a person at a higher designation to perform all functions authorised to lower designations in his or her department. 

Easy to Modify and Customise Reckoner® has the potential to adapt itself according to the customer’s specific business requirements. Any specific application you may need can be added without disturbing the Reckoner system in place. It does not binds its users to work according to itself - instead it moulds itself to work according to the users’ processes. Along with its sophisticated security design, Reckoner also incorporates ease of modifications. While on-line, you can modify or design new documents and procedures, you can change authorisations of individual staff and can even re-engineer a new process to be followed - all provided your user-access designation allows you to.

Communication in the Network In the Reckoner system, every entity is treated as a document. Message Passing is an in-built communication system where any document along with a message can be sent to and from any of Reckoner’s users. Any required action can be performed on that document like signing it or adding comments to it.. You won’t need a telephone line or a modem for this - all you need to do is login to Reckoner to communicate with your colleagues.

 Wide Area Mail System While Reckoner’s Message Passing System allows all Reckoner users to communicate within the active network, the Wide Area Mail System goes even further - it can assist you communicate over wide geographical boundaries. This function uses the Microsoft Mail System and can help your organisation to inter-network its remote offices as well as connect to its customers anywhere in the world. This feature provides the best focus to the customer by reducing the response time from demand and delivery.
